Where does all the money go?
Besides maintaining our web site and periodically publishing our newsletters, GSAA has provided funds for the library at the Rathje Campus to get it started, hymnals for south campus, new playground equipment, seven portable basketball nets, ceiling fans in Butler Hall prior to its renovation, Senior essay Scholarships, theater tickets to see "The Lion King", a score board and back boards for south campus gymnasium, helped sponsor "Space Camp", Pizza parties for honor roll students, Alumni Bell', Alumni Flag pole, new outdoor basketball court, “Alumni Camp Weekend”, a time to ready camp for the arrival of campers, Annual golf outings, golf equipment and Sabers for Rathje Campus, food concessions at Flag Day ceremonies, bus transportation to camp, Popcorn Maker, T-shirts for Regatta Day, new map signage, two new canoes and new lifejackets for Glenwood’s Camp Getschow, sponsored “The Drumbeat” student newspaper, summer off-campus swimming ...
A great many of our alumni enjoyed their days at camp. Many agree that camp was a high point of their stay at Glenwood. Last year we were able to make a $7,000 donation to support camp, which was used for coach busses. This was one of the largest single donations in the Association’s history. This year we made a pledge to raise $15,000 for the 2008 season. In order for the Association and its members to come close to reaching that goal, we need everyone that previously participated to again get involved.
We have three fundraisers each year, the golf outing, the cash raffle and the engraved pavers. Unfortunately, the golf outing did not raise as much money as we anticipated. It was not due to the lack of effort but the lack of participation. The Association has sold 1170 of the possible 1500 tickets. We fell far short of making our pledge of $15,000.
